Treatment Model: At present, medication management is provided at this center, combined with psycho-education and supportive psychotherapy, although the option for offering exclusive psychotherapy service in the near future is still in the pipeline. Telepsychiatry services are currently offered, to allow clients to engage in treatment, without having to be in the same location as the provider. Mental health services are available for Children, Teenagers as well as Adult patients.
Initial Psychiatric Evaluation: This first meeting will help to identify problems, formulate a diagnosis and discuss treatment options with you. This will also serve as an opportunity for both the provider and the patient, to get to know each other, as well as to determine if they are a good fit. For Adults, the initial evaluation usually involves one session, but for Children and Adolescents it will take 2 sessions. The first session is for meeting with parents and the second session would mainly involve initially meeting with the child or the teenager on their own, followed by a combined session towards the end with parents, to discuss treatment options. For your convenience, we do offer telepsychiatry services. However, Please be advised that, our HIPAA compliant Video sessions CANNOT accommodate 'Group calls' involving multiple callers from different locations. Therefore, parents will have to be physically present next to their child or teenager during these sessions, in order for us to be able to make treatment decisions.
Please note: Any time, after the first meeting or during the course of your treatment, you may be required to complete psychological ratings scales for screening and/or diagnostic purposes, including for ADHD, obtain lab work, EKG or other tests based on your clinical needs.
Medication Management: The frequency of these sessions are typically once in 4 weeks, but might also be sooner or later depending on your condition, individual situations, severity of illness, while starting or switching medications etc. During these visits, your mental state would be reviewed, response to medications including any side effects, level of tolerance etc. would be monitored. and medications or dose would be adjusted accordingly.
Please note: Evidence suggests that combining medications and psychotherapy can be more effective than either of them on its own. Therefore, you are strongly encouraged to attend psychotherapy, in order to achieve your treatment goals in the long run. Referrals are made to outside therapists specialized in areas specific to your condition.
Psychotherapy and Education: Basic supportive Psychotherapy and Psychoeducation would be part of all the sessions, by the Psychiatrist, including your initial evaluation. Moreover, during each session, the progress you had made so far with your outside therapist would also be reviewed.
Please note: Feel Good Behavioral Health never engages in “Fee splitting” or “Percentage-based fee arrangements with outside providers, and hence does not receive any compensation for referring to other clinicians or treatment centers.
Telepsychiatry: Please call your insurance company to make sure if Telehealth services are covered under your plan. We use HIPAA compliant telemedicine platform. Through telepsychiatry services, you are ensured continued access to mental health care during exceptional situations such as COVID-19 pandemic. Telepsychiatry can also be useful when a client or clinician temporarily moves to a different location, takes an extended vacation etc. While it offers greater flexibility and convenience, there are also several limitations to telepsychiatry as a method of practice, and hence it might not be an appropriate option for everyone, or every condition or an applicable option at all times due to various reasons. During your initial phone contact, your doctor will do a brief screening to determine whether or not Telepsychiatry is the suitable option for you, prior to scheduling your intake appointment.
Please note: Prior to your first appointment, you will be given consent forms to fill out which contain more detailed explanation of all the office policies and procedure. You will also have opportunity to clarify any questions you might have. For more information, including our fee schedule, please call the number provided in the contact page.
