Training
Dr. Doss is a 3 times board-certified Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry, as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, after being trained in different countries including India, United Kingdom and the United States. She received her primary medical education from Madras Medical College in Chennai, India. She initially practiced as a Primary Care Physician in India prior to moving to London, United Kingdom to pursue residency training in Psychiatry. Dr Doss's specific areas of interests were women related mental health issues, eating disorders, emotional issues related to experiencing trauma etc. Out of quest for more learning, she then moved to the United States.
Board Certification
Dr. Doss successfully completed her residency training and Child Psychiatry fellowship at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. She got board Certified by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, followed by American Board of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She also got her Board Certification from The Royal College of Psychiatrists, in London, United Kingdom.
Volunteering
In addition to pursuing her career in Medicine while in India, Dr. Doss was passionate about serving people in many other ways and hence volunteered her time for various social causes. Some of her activities included:
Treatment Approach
Having trained in 3 different countries, Dr Doss has exposure to working with people from different cultural and ethnic background. With this added advantage, combined together with rich personal life experiences, Dr. Doss has a well-rounded approach to treating psychiatric patients. Dr. Doss’s training in England included a strong emphasis on Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, which she incorporates to her other elements of treatment. Therefore, in addition to providing psychiatric evaluations and medication management, Dr. Doss also formulates and shares her psycho-dynamic assessments in order to help patients gain insight into their problems.
People experiencing mental health problems also have to face additional challenge, in the form of Stigma, which can have a profound impact on their illnesses. And in some occasions, they also have limited access to health care resources, compared to patients with Medical problems. Being aware of these limitations, Dr. Doss believes in empowering her patients, within the available means, by providing as much as information and all the treatment options, to enable them to make informed decisions. She tries to connect with her patients at an individual level and thus strives to maintain good therapeutic relationship.
Most importantly, as a mental health advocate, Dr. Doss’s primary goal is to promote the overall emotional and mental health well-being, as well as better quality of life for her patients.

- Conducting free medical camps targeted on preventative care for school children.
- Public health awareness campaigns.
- Round the clock outpatient services during crisis, such as aftermath of a disastrous flood, etc.
- Facilitating free education for children with less access to educational resources.
- Supportive campaigns for Asylum seekers from Sri-Lanka as well as fundraising for their food and accommodation needs.
- As a freelance journalist, she regularly wrote weekly columns, articles and cover stories in local magazines about contemporary issues.
- While she served as an honorary member of the local Women’s organization for almost 8 yrs., she closely worked with women who experienced sexual abuse and victims of domestic violence; Offered support services, including counselling as well as practical assistance with finding educational and or job opportunities etc. along with her other team members.
- While in U.K she served as the member of the Medical Educational Committee, and participated in the periodic review of residency training structure and didactic curriculum.
- Prior to taking up residency in the United States, Dr. Doss was involved in providing free online training for candidates appearing for USMLE Exams.
